Risk Analysis

LOPA (Layers of Protection Analysis) is a semi-quantitative industrial risk analysis technique used to evaluate the degree of risk in accident scenarios, considering independent layers of protection. It also determines if there are enough layers to protect the evaluated scenarios.

An IPL (Independent Protection Layer) can be a system, equipment or action that is able to prevent the continuity of an accident scenario to its consequences.
