In the VULNERABILITY analysis are performed computer simulations that use mathematical and thermodynamic models to quantify:
Rates of material discharge into the atmosphere;
Evaporation rates of materials;
Dispersion of gases in the atmosphere;
Overpressure and impulse in case of vapor cloud explosion;
Spatial distribution of thermal flux in the event of fire;
Spatial distribution of concentration in the case of toxic gas.
Once the distribution of the physical effects has been evaluated, the level of damages that they cause to the exposed population is also verified.
